I am getting a bit of painting done in the new, very fabulously lit (by God) studio. I am now gazing at the so-brilliant-it-must-be-fake (but isn’t) new spring green grass with morning shadows in brilliant purple from the trees all budded out new and fresh. Our redbud at the corner of the house is just about to stun us all, and the stream in the backyard is behaving itself, unlike last week. Too much rainfall, and no where to go but my sump pump. Our twin magnolia trees at each corner of the front of the house are shiny and dark and home to many new bird nests. Unfortunately, Mocha likes to climb them to get onto the roof, so I expect to see the occasional broken blue egg soon.
When Mocha gets onto the roof at night, he comes over to one of the sky lights over the den and scratches to get in. The first couple of times, it really scared the crap out of me, but now it’s fun. We talk back and forth for a bit until he realizes that I am not going to climb up on the exposed beams to open a non-operative sky light.
