De Selby is a painter who has lived in the Bluegrass for most of her life. After formal education (BA, MA in studio art), she continued her studies with research, painting, continuing education workshops, and life experience. She raised two 'perfect children', managed her own publishing business that distributed her designs both domestically and internationally, and lived in Wales where she welcomed many U.S visitors to what her husband, Greg, referred to as "De's Make Your Own Bed and Breakfast". During her time in Wales and for several years thereafter, she freelanced for Lands' End, Better Homes and Gardens, The Longaberger Corporation, and special interest publications.

After many requests for workshops, she is opening her studio in 2010 to beginning classes in oil painting, with only 4 spaces available per session. The small class size is optimum for individual instruction and forging camaraderie amongst workshop participants.
